BIO

The Shakedown

The Shakedown are bound by the common ambition to help carry the torch of Rock & Roll. Each member writes, sings and plays creating a soulful blend of what the group calls “Americana Soul.” Formed in Upstate NY in 2007, the group shortly thereafter began what has been a tremendous run at the world famous Dinosaur BBQ in both Syracuse & Rochester. The band quickly became a regular live act at multiple festivals and clubs including a chance to open for Gregg Allman.

The band took a major step forward with their work in Memphis, TN with legendary indie producer Doug Easley (Wilco, White Stripes). While working in Memphis the band had the opportunity to visit the legendary Sun Studio, birthplace of Rock & Roll; a highly inspirational moment. The resulting work with Easley produced a 14-track album of their own material entitled “Wild & Free.” The group spent the better part of 2012 performing the songs of “Wild & Free” to an ever expanding audience in cities such as Philadelphia, Boston, Hoboken, NYC, Burlington, Memphis & Washington DC as well as working on material for a second LP with a projected release in 2013.

Currently, the band is assembling appearances for Fall ‘12/Winter’13 throughout the NorthEast, MidWest and Canada in support of Wild & Free.
